Communication Franchise Recognises Serial Entrepreneur

Mail Boxes Etc has announced its Franchisee of the Year.

Dave Tester, who runs the Brighton branch, won the accolade for his rapid progress since opening the communications franchise in January 2006.

The award is also a recognition of the work he does for the network as a whole. He is part of the franchise’s consultative marketing group, consistently shares best practice with others in the network, has introduced new products and services, and identified new opportunities for his centre which are being exploited by other franchisees.

To say that Tester had a varied career and in a variety of places would be an understatement. He worked in the Middle East, US and West Indies for over 20 years as a petroleum inspector in the oil industry.

The Trolley Bus, which was about the same size and weight as a small moped, was collected from the auction house by a Pack & Send vehicle and brought back to the Reading store for secure packing and preparation for the journey to Spain.

“We were pleased to find that franchising is a way of being in business for yourself but not entirely on your own,” he says. “We liked the idea of training and support and that there is always someone to ask if you hit a problem.

Franchisee Stories: Delivery Franchise Owner

Graham Angus opened his MBE franchise in July 2005 after meeting the company at a franchise exhibition in Scotland.

He chose to leave a secure and well paid job to join MBE and realise his lifelong ambition to be his own boss.

“I began to think ‘it’s now or never’. I wanted a franchise in a completely different sector to my previous career and my search led me to MBE, a business that impressed me greatly,” he says.
