Starbucks Franchise Opportunities on Horizon

Starbucks is set to open a raft of new stores, opening up the possibility of other retail businesses selling the coffee franchise's products.

The company, which, with considerably success, has recently launched an instant coffee in its stores to win custom during the recession, is likely to licence more supermarkets, bookstores and other retail businesses to sell its coffee.

UK managing director Darcy Willson-Rymer says that, despite the company owning almost 750 shops in the UK and Ireland, he doesn't believe the coffee market is saturated.

Mobile Coffee Franchise Doubles Turnover

Mobile coffee franchise Cafe2U has doubled turnover in the six months to August 2008. 

The Leeds-based company is on its way to beating its 2007 turnover of £750k and expects to top £1.5m in just its third year of trading.

The coffee franchise, which was originally formed in Australia, was brought to the UK by Leeds Metropolitan University hospitality graduate Tom Acland in 2005, when he fell in love with the coffees he bought from a van in Sydney. 

Acland negotiated the European rights to operate the coffee franchise, which is now the UK’s largest mobile coffee brand.

Cafe2U Competition Supports Franchisees

Cafe2U.co.uk franchises all over the UK took part in a national survey and competition this month, and managing director Tom Acland personally delivered a number of the hundreds of prizes, including the first prize of a massive Toshiba LCD TV.

Regular customer Stephanie Oxley from Harrogate won the 37 inch TV in the competition run by the mobile gourmet coffee franchise, who’s distinctive gourmet coffee van pays a daily visit to the insurance broker’s offices where she works.

Stephanie was one of 25 finalists in the national competition that attracted more than 3,000 entries from as far afield as London, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and was picked for ner novel entry as part of the I Love Coffee promotion. Stephanie was the lucky winner of the £750 first prize.
