National Business Award Winner 2009

Former factory worker, Mark Thompson, wins the National Business Award – turning his redundancy into a success story.

Thompson bought a Chemex International franchise, Europe’s leading supplier of cleaning and hygiene products, and now four years on he has been voted Franchisee of the Year in recognition of his business skills and determination to succeed.

Thompson’s York-based franchise, more than doubled its turnover since 2005. Thompson states: “I was absolutely stunned when they read my name out. It is such an honour to win this in the face of stiff competition from my colleagues across the UK and Europe.”

Cleaning Franchise Owner Wins Award

Award winnersA mother of one from south-west London was named Gold Winner of the 2009 British Franchise Association’s (bfa) Franchisee of the Year Awards.

Sandra Redmond, who has held the Wimbledon Molly Maid franchise for over 14 years, impressed the judging panel by demonstrating how she has achieved ‘Success in Challenging Times’ – the theme of this year’s awards.

A Maid2Clean franchisee has been appointed operations director at the company.

Graeme Pirie can combine the two roles as his cleaning franchise is established enough to operate without his day-to-day presence dealing with clients and and cleaners, something
many franchisees aspire to achieve.

Mike Hanrahan appointed an operations director as the business had grown so large that a dedicated person was now essential if franchisees were to receive adequate support. And he surmised that no better contender could be found than an existing franchisee.

Domestic Cleaning Franchise Gets Together With Betterware

Pam Bader, Molly Maid CEOMOLLY MAID, the UK’s biggest domestic cleaning franchise, has teamed up with Betterware to offer prizes from spring and one-off cleans, through some fabulous home cleaning kits, to a year’s free cleaning.

The MOLLY MAID competition features in the March edition of the Betterware catalogue distributed to over 12 million homes across the UK.

MOLLY MAID will also feature on the Betterware website which hundreds of thousands of shoppers visit every day.
