Alan Murray, a franchisee with Activ Web Design for eight months, explains why he's enjoying it thus far.
FS Blog: How’s it going so far then?
Alan Murray: Although I still work full-time, Activ Web Design is giving me the opportunity to build up my own business whilst still holding down a job.
I sell on average two websites a month and hope to eventually run my franchise full-time.
FS Blog: What do you enjoy about running an Activ Web Design franchise?
AM: Everything about Activ is great.
The team at head office offer excellent support and advice and are constantly improving the way the franchise operates.
The Activ Web Design tool is extremely easy to use – it’s difficult to express just how easily and quickly a new customer website can be created using it.
FS Blog: That’s particularly important given you’re working a regular job alongside it. Do you need a background in web design to run this franchise?
AM: No real experience is required, and if you do need help, the Activ support team is always there to solve issues promptly.
FS Blog: What would you say to anyone considering buying an Activ Web Design franchise?
AM: I wholeheartedly recommend Activ to anyone looking for a franchise that they can run from home, either full or part-time.
It’s rewarding, challenging and fun and the franchise certainly ticks all the right boxes for me.

There advantages of buying a franchise business are many, especially if it is a popular one. You will be working with a brand name that has already established itself rather than starting from scratch. A disadvantage of owning a franchise is that you will not have the satisfaction of saying, "This business was my idea." But if the main reason for starting your own business is to make money and gain independence – a franchise is the way to go.
